YLD Golf Tournament, June 24
On June 24, 2011, the YLD will host its annual Golf Tournament at Glen Eagle Golf Course located in Millington, Tennessee. Tee time is at 1:00 p.m. for this “shotgun start.” Managed by the Navy Golf Program, Glen Eagle Golf Course features rolling hills, magnificent fairways, and well-maintained greens. The course provides an exciting play for golfers of any skill level. At only 20 minutes from downtown Memphis and a registration fee of $65 per person, the Golf Tournament is both conveniently located and affordable. Plus, proceeds from the Tournament will go to benefit the Downtown Porter Boys and Girls Club. Prizes will also be awarded to our top finishers, as well as for the longest drive and closet to the pin, just to name a few. So, whether you are a scratch golfer or consider making contact with the ball off the tee a personal triumph, this is the tournament for you, as good times will be had by all.
Workplaces for High School Interns Still Needed!
Over 80 kids applied for the 2011 MBA Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP), and 45 workplaces have opened their doors to them. However, more workplaces are needed for June 13-July 8. Interns—minority high school students who will be entering their junior or senior year of high school—are required to work 15 hours a week during that 4-week period and to adhere to the other requirements of the program. If they successfully complete the internship, they receive a $500 stipend, which is usually paid by the workplace. Workplaces are asked to mentor the intern and let him/her “shadow” attorneys to learn about the real world practice of law. If you can provide a workplace, but can’t pay the $500 stipend, some money is available to cover that cost. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact Anne Fritz at 901.527.3573 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
