Dozens of nonprofit agencies, service providers and other organizations join together to break down the barriers that can make it more difficult to escape homelessness. As part of those services, a “street clinic”, sponsored by the Shelby County Public Defender’s Office, will be offered to help those with unpaid court costs and fines. In addition, a civil legal clinic will be held to assist people with issues such as child support, collections, and landlord/tenant. The next Project Homeless Connect will be held on Sept.19 (originally scheduled for Aug. 22) at the Memphis Cook Convention Center. Attorneys are needed to assist with the civil legal clinic for a 2-hour shift. We particularly need attorneys familiar with family law issues.
