Kirby Appointed to the TN Supreme Court

Court of Appeals Judge Holly Kirby of Memphis has been appointed to the Tennessee Supreme Court by Gov. Bill Haslam. Kirby will succeed Janice M. Holder when Justice Holder retires in September 2014. Judge Kirby is a fellow of the Memphis Bar Foundation and has served on the Western Section of Tennessee Court of Appeals since 1995. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Kirby was a partner at Burch, Porter & Johnson in Memphis.

Services for Jim McMahon

Visitation for attorney Jim McMahon, who died unexpectedly on Dec. 17, is Sat., Dec. 21 from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m., at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Ave.  Burial will follow in Edmondson Cemetery in Southaven, MS.  Jim is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sue Hilderbrand McMahon; sister Anne (Raymond) Gilliam of South Carolina; brother, Art (Bing) McMahon of Virginia; his sisters-in-law, Pat (Jack) Nichols, Beth (David) Kelley, and Fran (Jack) Swain and several nieces and nephews.  Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.memphisfuneralhome.net

Save the Date! National Intercollegiate Mock Trial Tournament 3/21-3/33

We are proud to once again host the Opening Rounds of the American Mock Trial Association’s National Intercollegiate Mock Trial tournament.  Each year our competition continues to improve thanks to those of you who volunteer your time to give valuable feedback to the students.  This is a great opportunity to serve the profession, earn CLE credit, and have an enjoyable time watching talented young people wrestle with the complexities of the law. This four-round intercollegiate competition promises to be an exciting event.  Your willingness to consider serving as a judge for one or more rounds of this tournament is greatly appreciated! 

CLE CREDIT:  We have applied to offer a total of 8 hours of CLE credit in TN for participation in the four rounds/CLE sessions, and 16 hours in MS and AR for the same. The charge will be $10 per hour which covers recruitment, presentations, and filing fees.
