Over the past two weeks, the Memphis legal community has made headlines for the positive work it is doing in the community. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Gina Higgins, Chair of the MBA Diversity Committee, was featured on Joe Birch’s "Taking Back Our Neighborhoods" segment on Friday, June 6 speaking about the minority high school Summer Law Intern Program. Several students appeared in the piece as well. Click here to watch/read the full story.

  • Also in the Wednesday June 11 edition of The Commercial Appeal, an article by Cindy Wolff appeared on the cover of the Local News section discussing one man’s experience as a pro se litigant in the Civil Division of General Sessions Court. The article directs pro se litigants to seek assistance through the MALS Attorney for a Day program held Thursdays in Room 134 of the Shelby County Courthouse.  Click here to read the article.
  • Bill Dries of The Daily News wrote an excellent article on the MBA Summer Law Intern Program featuring a photo of Mayor Wharton with several of the student participants. The article appeared in the June 12th edition of The Daily News.  Click here to read the article.
